Brexit? So what?
Yes, there are going to be a lot of changes happening over the next few years covering everything from immigration to health and from education to fishing. Yes, there are going to be a lot of headlines, mostly scaremongering, and yes, there is going to be a lot of uncertainty and worry.
But worrying isn’t going to help anyone.
This might seem a little flippant, it is after all the biggest thing to happen to this country since Brex-in, but for me, it fits into the category of ‘no control’ and if I have no control then I try not to spend time and energy worrying about it.
As a nation, we got ourselves into this so let's agree to do something we all can do together - let's make the best of it.
I could now pump you full of clichés, and there some good ones out there – “success breeds success” springs to mind, but I won’t.
I will just say this. Over the last 2 weeks, I have been to 2 networking days and another 3 networking meetings. In addition to this, I have met with 6 potential new clients and a number of people looking for a new job and I don’t remember Brexit being discussed at any time. Instead, I was talking to people about some incredible businesses fighting hard, growing and achieving recognition, same as every other year, as well as listening to some brilliant success stories. Sally Roberts at Fun Training For Results, Paul Wilson at Flapjack Films, Karen Tinkler and Monica Green at The Partners Group, Ben Teggin at Kulahub, the list could go on and on, and these are only some of the people I have seen in the last few days in and around Harrogate.
The people I know and the business owners I work with are excited about the prospects that 2017 holds and they are working hard to make the year a success, and they are doing so with positivity, with gratitude and with the customers at the forefront of what they do.
It has been nothing short of inspirational and if we work together, focus on success and, just as importantly, shout about it, then we will as a nation make the best of it. After all, success breeds success.
