Let’s not pretend, making the decision to return to work is a tough one.
You are taking a step into the unknown and there are so many different things to think about and to take into consideration, let alone the niggling self-doubt about whether you have made the right decision for you and your family.
Yet you are not alone. In fact, there are approximately 500,000 Mums and Dads across the UK either actively looking to go back to work or are planning to in the very near future.
Once you have made the decision to return to work you then need to think about what your priorities are, are they career, money and a new challenge or low stress, close to home and school hours or something completely different? Either and any are absolutely fine and they are personal to you, but you need to work them out before trying to decide what kind of role you are looking for.
Once you have decided this you can then write a C.V. that reflects you and the sort of job you would like. Then there is the small matter of finding and applying for the right sort of jobs and going through the interview process.
Sound a little daunting? Don’t be put off, we are here to help.
GPS Return was set up by parents who have experienced what you are going through and understand how difficult it can be. We know returning to work can be a hard work, nerve-wracking and a little confusing at times, but we also know it can be enlightening, confidence building and inspiring and, with a little know-how, can be a relatively straightforward process.
Whether you choose to come to a workshop, have 1-on-1 coaching, apply for a job through GPS Return or simply sign-up to our newsletter and read our series of blogs, our aim is to help you return to work in a role that suits you and your family.
